What we see, town by town
Same red clay, different houses.
Edmond
Older homes near downtown and the university can still have galvanized water lines and cast-iron drains. Newer neighborhoods to the north and west are mostly slab-on-grade, where a leak under the floor is the thing to watch for. City water is a blend of Arcadia Lake, Garber-Wellington wells and water purchased from Oklahoma City.
North Oklahoma City
The Village, Nichols Hills and the neighborhoods around them were largely built in the middle of the last century, with big trees and original sewer lines. Roots in the sewer and worn-out piping are the common calls.
Logan County & the acreages
North and east of Edmond, many homes sit on acreages with private wells and septic systems instead of city water and sewer. Well water in this area is often harder than city water, and it is worth testing.
